Truck Hydrogen Generator - Alternative Fuel For Trucks to Reduce Gasoline Consumption

There have been some reports on the internet about a truck hydrogen generator device used to improve a vehicle fuel mileage. This kind of information has generated a lot of attention because people are hungry for solution to reduce gasoline expenses. The whole event was caused by rising global crude oil prices hence pushing local gasoline prices to a new height. Trucks owners are affected more by rising fuel prices because trucks usually burn more fuel due to its large engine capacity and heavy chassis. Therefore, when the news of a truck hydrogen generator was published, many people are really excited about it. How does the technology works? This article will provide some information on the technology of using hydrogen as an alternative fuel for trucks.

A truck internal combustion engine was design to burn fossil fuel. If hydrogen gas (H2) is fed into the combustion chambers, it will ignite and produce power as well. This is because hydrogen gas is highly flammable and can burn very efficiently. A truck hydrogen generator is basically an electrolysis device use to produce H2 from water. This is possible because water is made from the combination of 2 parts hydrogen and one part oxygen hence its name H2O. You will be surprised that the electrolysis device can be built with common parts available from a hardware store. Electricity from the battery can be used to produce the current needed to generate hydrogen gas.

For the time being, it is not very practical to run a truck on pure hydrogen gas. The current system uses a combination of gasoline fume and H2 in the truck engine. In essence, the truck is a hydrogen hybrid vehicle. A truck running with a hydrogen generator is not a perfect system. There are a few challenges needed to be solved before the technology can be made mainstream. The biggest challenge is to find a way to produce enough hydrogen gas to be used in the engine. Nonetheless, with the current high fuel prices, any solution that can reduce a truck gasoline expenses will be a blessing for the owner.
